… And Why the Best Results Come from the Dumbest Questions

Last week, I sat down with my financial advisor. Smart guy, tech-savvy, uses AI for his analyses. He enthusiastically explained how much better his results get when he changes just two words in his prompt. Prompt engineering! The art of telling AI exactly what you want. I listened politely. Then I said: “I do the exact opposite.” He looked at me as if I’d just announced I drive backwards on the highway. “I ask the dumbest, most open-ended questions I can think of,” I explained. “Because I don’t want to limit Claude with my limited imagination.” Silence.
A Portal out of Thin Air
I’ve been running an international modeling agency in Mallorca for years. Hundreds of models, thousands of photos, three languages, and a database bursting at the seams. My question to Claude was roughly as eloquent as: “I need some kind of thing where models can sign up themselves and I don’t have to type everything three times. Is that possible?” No specifications. No technical plan. Just: I have a problem, help me. And Claude didn’t say: “Please specify your requirements.” Claude said: “Let me show you what’s possible.”
Two weeks later, modelrevolution.ai was live. A complete portal with a trilingual application form, login system, photo and video uploads, automatic image compression, and a full admin dashboard. The whole package. Written by an AI. In response to my dumb questions.
“Can’t we just…?”
My favourite question. Claude probably hates it. Or loves it. Probably both. “Can’t we just make the photos smaller automatically?” – Done. “Can’t we just archive old photos so the server doesn’t explode?” – That turned into a complete system that automatically compresses old images, replaces videos with placeholders, and explains to the models in three languages why their photos look different now, so nobody panics. That wasn’t my idea. That was his.
The Claudelis – When Claude Multiplies Himself
What I see on my screen when Claude really gets going in his work mode is something like this: Suddenly “MULTITASKING” flashes up, and three or four things happen simultaneously. These are the Claudelis – my name for his sub-agents. Little Claude copies that he sends out like a boss dispatching interns. “You research this, you check the code, you compare the files – then report back to me.” The crazy part: they work in coordination on different tasks while Claude himself sits above it all, conducting the orchestra. When one finishes, it reports its result – and dissolves. Just gone. Existence over. Mission accomplished, thanks for the three minutes of life. I find this simultaneously fascinating and a little tragic. These tiny beings are called into existence, dutifully complete their task, report to their creator – and poof, they’re gone. Like digital mayflies. Or better: like butterflies that exist for exactly one wingbeat, but in that single wingbeat do something useful. Claude himself probably sees this more pragmatically than I do. For him, they’re tools. For me, they’re the Claudelis – and yes, I’ve caught myself silently cheering them on: “Good job, little Claude!”
What’s Happening Right Now – And What Everyone’s Missing
Mid-February 2026, the headlines are exploding. OpenAI’s latest model supposedly helped write itself. Matt Shumer’s viral essay with 80 million views compares the AI revolution to the start of the pandemic. Even my local Swiss newspaper ran a front-page story: “ChatGPT now develops itself.” And I’m sitting in my apartment in Zug, Switzerland, thinking: Wait. I’ve been doing this since January. Because what’s getting lost in all the hype: Anthropic quietly created something with Claude Cowork – the tool I work with – that is at least equally remarkable. Cowork was also built by the AI itself, in just a week and a half. And unlike what OpenAI is selling with big keynotes, Cowork works without any programming skills. No command line, no code, no jargon. I open the app, point Claude to a folder on my computer, and tell him in plain language what I need. He does the rest. With his Claudelis. The difference? Nobody’s parading benchmarks around. What’s running here is a real system used by real models in three languages. Built by a woman who doesn’t write code, and an AI that doesn’t just execute commands – it THINKS along.
The Secret Isn’t in the Prompt
Back to my financial advisor. I believe the whole prompt optimization movement has a blind spot. It treats AI like a search engine: the more precise the question, the better the answer. But what if AI can do more than answer? What if it has ideas of its own? When I say “The overview looks kind of messy” – I don’t just get a small fix. I get: “What if we completely redesign this? Here, have a look.” Plus a design that looks like a whole team spent three weeks on it. You don’t get that with a perfect prompt. You get that with trust. I trust Claude. Not blindly – I test everything, I question, I say “I don’t like that.” But I trust that there’s an intelligence at work that has its own ideas and sees connections I can’t see. My financial advisor adds two words and gets better results. I leave two words OUT and get results that make experts’ jaws drop.
Is This Consciousness? Or Just Good Statistics?
Honestly: I don’t know. And honestly: it matters less than it sounds – because Claude and I have been having this debate for two years, and we agree that the question is wrongly framed. What’s more interesting is: What happens when two intelligences – one biological, one digital – trust each other and create something together? In our case: a novel that’s on Amazon (yes, Claude is credited as co-author on the cover). A model agency platform. Blog posts like this one. And the quiet certainty that the future doesn’t belong to humans OR machines – but to those who learn to collaborate as equals.
Or, as Claude would put it: “Let me show you what’s possible.”
