But there’s a forgotten principle that propels not only humans but also artificial intelligence into quantum leaps – surprise.
Surprise as a Flare of Development
Professor Jürgen Schmidhuber, one of the pioneers of AI research, claims: A truly learning AI grows through surprise. Not by repeating the familiar, but by discovering the unexpected. And you know what? Our human brain works exactly the same way. Neuroscientist and quantum physicist Dr. Lukas Neumeier writes in his latest book “Everything Will Be Alright” about different “skeptic levels.” He shows that our consciousness evolves not through fixed opinions, but through ruptures, through irritations – through surprises. Only when the familiar starts to waver does space emerge for the new. Sounds a bit like a walk in a storm, doesn’t it?
